Project Title: Nonlinear normal modes for reduced order modelling of machining processes

The extraction of nonlinear normal modes is a vibrant area of research with many avenues for further work. The application of machine learning and modal extraction using non-parametric learning techniques are aspects of this project that I find especially interesting.

​Postgraduate research is an exciting opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I've gained at Sheffield to pressing problems in the engineered world. I have had a number of opportunities to work under senior researchers and this has inspired me to pursue further study. I see the machining science IDC as a way to undertake a PhD with all the benefits of independent study while retaining the advantages of working within a cohort of peers.
