I chose to study a PhD to delve into and push the boundaries of knowledge of composite machining.
The EngD combines the academic rigour of a doctorate whilst closely aligning the research to industry. I enjoy the freedom that conducting independent research brings and I have a passion for teaching.
I'm pursuing a doctorate to develop my knowledge in my field of interest; high-speed machining of aerospace components.
The IDC offered me a chance to work on interesting, ground-breaking research, while still offering the expertise and support to make it relevant to industry.
I am looking to gain new skills in manufacturing engineering and to apply these skills in a purposeful way.
I was attracted by the unique combination of postgraduate research and industrial focus that the EngD offers. I see the EngD as an investment of time into my personal and professional development.
I wanted the experience of both industry and academia whilst working on a subject that I am thoroughly interested in. The EngD provides all of this whilst offering huge amounts of self-development and networking opportunities.
